Here you feel as if you are miles away from civilization and still the nearest village, the delightful village of Zahara, is only a couple of minutes away. It has a lively centre, with many bars and restaurants, and some shops. The dramatically positioned town of Ronda on the Tajo gorge, with many remnants of ancient cultures and all modern amenities, is just 15 minutes by car.

Finca Pantano is an excellent base from where to explore the extensive natural parks around Ronda, varying from lovely valleys to rough rocky mountains, just now and then dotted with some picturesque white villages.

The property is situated in the famous Grazalema Natural Park. You will see many birds nearby on the grounds and high up in the sky. Grazalema Natural Park is famous to preserve some very rare species. Impressive are the eagles and giant vultures.

The fabulous lake lies within walking distance from the cottage. It is great to have a swim in the lake. Since this lake has not yet been discovered by many, you will probably have the lake all to yourself.

When you return to the house in the evening, again the patio is a marvellous place to be. Imagine sitting out in the open in the warm Andalusian nights, gazing at the distant peaks of Grazalema and the billions of stars up above.

When renovating the house, the owners have made every effort to add all modern comfort, without changing the rustic nature of the house. Here you will find wooden beams and a rustic Spanish appearance. At the same time the interior is very stylish. Finca Pantano has been decorated with both antique furniture and modern art. The warm, earthy colours used, the natural timbers and the handmade terracotta's, all add to the comfortable atmosphere of the place. There is a wood-burner, that will provide you with extra warmth on an occasionally colder day, and that will add to the cosy, rustic atmosphere. The stove and electric heaters together ensure a comfortable temperature during winter.

The bedroom has two beds that can be made as one large double bed with one cover, or as two separate beds, corresponding to your preferences.

The decoration of the room is cosy. In the morning you will awake in your bed to a stunning, panoramic view of the lake.

Its size also makes it an ideal weekend retreat or the perfect holiday home. It occupies a glorious 15,000m2 orchard with hundreds of mature trees, no near neighbours and some of the best views in Europe. The surrounding area is rich in wildlife and fauna, and has been blessed with wonders like the Garganta Verde (Europe's largest Griffon Vulture nest site) and El Torreon, the tallest mountain in this part of Spain. It's the perfect place to enjoy nature, and the land would suit anyone with a pony or two - there are great walks and rides starting right at the entrance!

The park area is highly protected and no development can spoil the natural beauty of the area, nor the peace and quiet. The cottage has mains electricity and a spring-fed well provides abundant free water. It would be possible to connect 'Iberbanda' for broadband internet access, as well as a 'phone.

There is an additional detached outbuilding which can be restored to provide a second bedroom with an en-suite (or alternatively a studio or office).

There's a large Sitting Room with a period stone fireplace and cast-iron log-burner, a fully integrated country-style Kitchen, one Double Bedroom (currently furnished as a twin), and a gorgeous Bathroom. There's a small attached storage shed, plus a terrace and pergola'd dining area which makes the most of those incredible breath-taking views.
